This is David Crane, the former Chief Prosecutor of the Special Court of Sierra Leone who presided over the indictments, arrest and prosecution of those that were deemed to have borne the greatest responsibility for the atrocities committed in Sierra Leone during our gruesome 11year civil war.

David Crane is now a full time professor at the Syracuse University Law School.

I first heard about Prof. Crane in an article that was published in the Syracuse University’s daily newspaper in October 2009. The article was titled ‘The Secret Agent’. It largely covered the high points of his stay in Sierra Leone and his administration of the Special Court.

I had since been seeking an opportunity to meet him until I met with one of his law students in my Social Entrepreneurship class, who promised to get an appointment arranged for me.
