Creating Your Own American Dream Where you are

The 4th of July every year, the United States of America celebrates its independence from Britain. Given the might of the American nation as we know it today, it is hard to imagine that this great nation was only once a colony of Britain (Like Sierra Leone) and had to fight for the right to self-determination.

From a struggling nation of about 2.5m people in 1776 when it declared its independence and started a war that would last for 4 years and claimed the lives of at least 620,000 American lives; the USA has grown to become arguably the most powerful nation on the face of the earth. Its estimated population of more than 327m is composed of an estimated number over 43m (13%) foreign born nationals, originating from every continent in the world; making it one of the most diverse nations on the face of the earth

THE AMERICAN DREAM

The biggest dream of millions of people all over the world, is to make it to the United States of America.  Every year,  hundreds of thousands of people risk their lives to make it to the USA  in search of the AMERICAN DREAM

According to the United States Census Bureau figures for 2017,  38,257 of the foreign-born nationals in the USA are Sierra Leoneans; also in search of the AMERICAN DREAM

WHAT IS THE AMERICAN DREAM? CAN THIS ONLY BE ACHIEVED IN AMERICA?

The American Dream represents the idea of a just and equitable society where ANYONE CAN START FROM ANYWHERE AT THE BOTTOM AND RISE UP TO THE HIGHEST HEIGHTS IN LIFE, IRRESPECTIVE OF THIER SOCIAL BACKGROUND

No better evidence of this fact than the reality that an African American could go on to become the 44th President of the United States of America, Barak Hussein Obama… the message I guess is if you do not stop fighting for what you want,  “ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE”

Given that the American Dream is not a place;  a Philosophy – that is attainable anywhere by anyone, do you have to have to go to the United States of America to create your own American Dream?
